Spotlight on David White

David White transferred into Binghamton this semester from Army.  He is a true sophomore who started both as a freshman and last semester for the Black Knights.  He went 20-19 last season and won seven matches with bonus points.  He finished 6th at the EIWA Championships, 2nd at the Millersville Shorty Hitchcock Tournament, and 4th at the New York State Collegiate Tournament.

Last semester at Army, David started and turned in a 19-13 record wrestling primarily at 125 pounds.  He took 3rd at the Millersville Shorty Hitchcock Tournament, 5th at the Oklahoma Gold Classic, and finished in the top twelve at the Southern Scuffle.

Since coming to BU, White has wrestled in two tournaments:  the Edinboro Open and the National Collegiate Open.  At the Edinboro Open, he dropped a match in the semifinals by getting defensively pinned when he was winning and injury defaulted to sixth.  This past weekend at the National Collegiate Open, White dropped a hard fought bout in the finals to Dixon of Cornell 2-3 and placed 2nd.  He now stands at 23-16 on the season.  David has quality wins this year over nationally ranked wrestlers, Robinson (ODU), Boylan (Bloomsburg), and Pickrel (South Dakota State).

Here is a video of David's finals match this past Sunday at the National Collegiate Open:

In high school, David was a PIAA AA State Champion his senior year at 112 pounds.

We are very glad to have David join the Bearcat Wrestling squad and are excited about his future at Binghamton!
