Junior heavyweight Tyler Deuel
recorded a pin in the final match of the afternoon to give Binghamton
wrestling (3-8) a comeback 22-18 win over host Drexel (4-11) Sunday
afternoon from the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Down 18-11 with two matches remaining, the Bearcats received a technical fall at 197 from senior Cody Reed,
setting the stage for a winner-take-all bout at heavyweight. Deuel was
up to the task, overpowering his Dragons for before ending the match
with the second-period fall. Reed, who scored at will during his 24-8
win, posted his fifth consecutive win, as did Deuel, who raised his
record to a team-best 20-5 overall, 9-2 in duals.
Junior 125-pound David White
stretched his own win streak to eight with a 10-2 major decision. White
is now 18-6 overall, 8-3 in duals. Also winning for the Bearcats were
freshman 141-pound Nick Tighe and junior 157-pound Joe Bonaldi. Tighe picked up his 21st win of the season.
Binghamton returns home for three straight duals, beginning with a match against Old Dominion at 7 p.m. Friday at West Gym. SEE YOU THERE!
