The Bearcats hosted Princeton and Rider University this afternoon at the West Gym.  Despite our two losses today, Tyler Deuel (HWT) had two impressive matches.  He won his first match against Cole Lampman from Princeton with a 17-1 tech fall in the first period.  Keeping a great drive, he also beat Greg Velasco from Rider 11-7.   Tyler Deuel now holds a 12-4 record.

Caleb Wallace (184) went (1-1) today, beating Jim Resnick from Rider 4-1.   Check out the results tab to see the full team's performance.

November Updates

Bearcat Wrestling Fans-
Here is a recap of what happened in the past month.  For more results, be sure to check out the "dual results" tab!

Bearcat Open
We opened our season with the Bearcat Open, bringing over 400 wrestlers from 30 teams across the nation to Binghamton campus.  Junior Joe Bonaldi placed third place in the 149 weight class (shown to the left).  Along with Bonaldi, David White (125 lb.) and Tyler Deuel (HWT) placed fourth place.  This was a great experience for the team and our freshman to wrestle against
some of the top teams in the nation.  Check out the Results tab for the Final Brackets.

East Stroudsburg Open
We sent several individuals to wrestle at the East Stroudsburg Open and saw some great results.  Sophomore 174 lb. Jack McKeever won all six out of six matches and placed first in his weight class (to the right), defeating Adam Mackie of Lock Haven to take home the crown.  Freshman 133-pound Nick Tighe also had a strong showing, winning four of five matches to place third. Tighe opened with a pin and then put eight points on the board in successive matches to reach the semifinals. After a 5-3 loss to the eventual champion from Lock Haven, Tighe closed his day with a 12-3 major decision over Hofstra’s Kyle Krasavage in the third-place bout.

New York State Intercollegiate Championship @ Ithaca

Binghamton wrestling produced eight placewinners and finished a strong third out of 24 teams.  Heavyweight Tyler Deuel (to the left) placed first with two pins and two techfalls (4-0).  Binghamton also had three wrestlers take third place: freshman 133-pound Nick Tighe, junior 184-pound Calleb Wallace and senior 197-pound Cody Reed.  Three wrestlers took fourth place- Junior 149-pound Joe Bonaldi, junior 125-pound David White and redshirt freshman Dylan Caruana (141 lbs).  We had a lot of great pins and individual wins- check out the full results by clicking the "results" tab!

Journeymen Duals in Albany
Binghamton wrestling went 1-2 at the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals over Thanksgiving break. The Bearcats lost to North Carolina (22-14) and NC State (23-9) before rallying to defeat George Mason (21-14) in the team’s final dual of the event.  Cody Reed went a perfect 3-0 on the day and Tyler Deuel went 2-1 with the decisive pin against George Mason.  Check out the highlights from the Journeymen Duals below!
